Spring LEVEL 2 Tuesday Evening 10 week Wheel Throwing Series with Unlimited Open Studio Time
6:30pm-9pm, February 25th-May 6th With a week off for spring break 1st wk of April.
Welcome to Level 2 with this 10 week wheel throwing class taught by Rachel Recker.
With 10 weeks (plus an extra week of studio time during spring break) There is so much time to dig into more complicated forms and focus on modification and making higher level clay structures. Students love this long format at the studio as it gives everyone time to practice and refine their new learning.
Forms that will be covered begin with throwing off of the hump and progress to altering forms and working step by step toward making a teapot. Plus we will watch videos of expert ceramacists, have some art lectures to think more elaborately and fun wheel challenges to hone our skills. It is recommended that you are able to center and throw a 6 in cylender. However, you are able to self assess to place into this class.
(Its okay to take the 10wk Beginner class more than once, its amazing how much info there is to glean.)
Students signed up for this class will also have access to Salish Sea Ceramic Studio during open studio hours. Updated Weekly on Google, open studio hours are an important part of class in order to practice skills and make work. With a 10 wk class and almost three months of access to the studio this long format class is the crown jewel of the studio and we love hosting it! Plus we have a week off for Spring Break since people tend to travel and there will still be open studio hours! (the first week of April) Class size of 10 people. This class focuses on Level 2 techniques and it has been a year since we have taught it! So we are so happy to bring it back. We are looking forward to making and altering some great wheel projects this spring.
